Maintenance Tip:
Turning on the Heat

As the weather cools down, many of you will be turning on your heat for the first time. To give the unit time to adjust to the change, please leave the unit “Off” for 5 minutes when switching from “Cool” to “Heat”.

Because the heating elements have been unused for several months, dust may have accumulated on the element. The first time you turn on the unit, the dust may heat up and cause smoke and a burning smell.

This is normal. If the smoke detector goes off, you may need to open the windows to allow the apartment to clear out. For normal use, however, please do not have the heating/air conditioning unit running while the windows are open, as this can cause additional wear and tear to the unit.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings'

  • 2-3 tablespoons butter
  • 6 boneless skinless chicken thighs or 4 boneless skinless breasts
  • 1 onion diced
  • 2 cans of cream of chicken Soup
  • 1-2 ribs celery sliced or diced
  • 1-2 carrots sliced or diced
  • frozen peas (about ½-1 cup, or desired amount)
  • 3-4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 small packages Grands Jr biscuits (total 10 biscuits) torn into 5-6 pieces
  • flour for dusting dumplings

  1. Place the chicken, butter, soup, veggies and onion in a greased slow cooker, and fill with enough broth to cover.
  2. Secure lid and cook for 5 to 6 hours on High. About 30-45 minutes before serving, roll each torn biscuit piece in flour (to prevent them from sticking together), then drop into the slow cooker. Replace lid and cook remaining 30-45 minutes or until dumplings are cooked through. Dunk dumplings in liquid once or twice during final cooking stage.

Help Keep Our
Community Clean

We have recently noticed an increase in litter throughout the community. Garbage that has not been disposed of properly poses a big concern, not only because it is unsightly, but also because it may act as an attractant to pests and wildlife. Trash items should always be placed inside the trash compactors or appropriate trash receptacles. Please do not leave household trash items on balcony/patio areas or in building breezeways. All furniture items, décor, mattresses or any non-household garbage should be taken to the local community dump located off Castle Rock Rd. Please do not leave any items in our compactor area. If you notice the trash compactor isn’t working properly and the trash is piling up after hours please call 843-379-5110 option 2 and leave a message on the emergency maintenance so that we can resolve the issue. Thank you for your cooperation.

Pet Reminder

Just a friendly reminder, that we’ve been noticing a pet waste issue around our community. Please be reminded that we do fine $60 for anyone who is caught not picking up after their pet. We want everyone here at Ashton Pointe to enjoy their home. Let’s work together on keeping the community looking beautiful!
