Make Some Memories at the Highway 21 Drive In

Joseph Coupal - Thursday, March 10, 2011

Next time you go to the movies, try something different and go to the drive-in. Drive-is make me feel nostalgic for the 50s (even though I was born much later!) because they were so popular back then. They are fun and romantic at the same time because you get your own private viewing booth—your car! At the Highway 21 Drive-in Movie Theater, located at 55 Parker Dr in Beaufort, they really want to keep the memories alive and hope that everyone feels a little nostalgic now and then. You can call 843-846-4500 (movie line) or 846-4021 after 6pm for general information.

Tonight, you can see Rango, True Grit, Just Go With It, and Big Momma’s House: Like Father, Like Son. I have to admit, I really want to see Rango. Highway 21 Drive In is open Friday through Sunday. This Friday will start a whole new movie schedule so store the number in you cell phone and be on the lookout!

Celebrate Beaufort’s 300th Birthday

Joseph Coupal - Wednesday, March 09, 2011

Founded in 1711, Beaufort is celebrating its 300th birthday this year! You can celebrate all year long by learning more about Beaufort with the Historic Beaufort Foundation. Beaufort has some of the most well-preserved houses in the country. Verdier House, located at 801 Bay Street, is one of those special houses in Beaufort that symbolize the wealth that could be acquired in 1800s Beaufort.

Verdier House, a Federal-style mansion built around 1804, was built and owned by John Mark Verdier. Verdier was a planter and a merchant. After he was sent to debtor’s prison, the house was left to his son and daughter-in-law, Caroling. The house was taken over by the Union army after Verdier’s son died and was taken back again by Caroline at a tax sale. Years later, the people of Beaufort rallied together to save the house from destruction, and now it is a house museum. Those valiant people formed what is now the Historic Beaufort Foundation.

Take a tour of the Verdier House! Tours are held everyday except Sunday, on the half hour from 10:00 AM until 4:30 PM

Joseph Coupal - Friday, March 04, 2011

Beaufort has a lot to offer and plenty of sights to see. Have you ever taken a tour of your own city? If you haven’t or you think that sounds silly, you would be surprised at how much fun it is, and how much there is to learn about Beaufort.

Let the SouthurnRose Buggy tour teach you a little something about beaufort

Take a SouthurnRose Buggy tour through Beaufort and you’ll see beautiful houses, The Castle, an antebellum mansion, as well as where hit movies were filmed, like Forrest Gump and G.I Jane. The horses that pull the carriages are friendly and playful, and the owners take good care of them. You can see some pictures of the horses on the Southurn Rose website.

You’ll really feel like you’ve been taken back in time. Hearing the clip-clop of the horses hooves and the seeing the old Victorian style architecture is perfect for a romantic afternoon, or just to relax and learn a little more about Beaufort.

Call 843-524-2900 or email southurnrose@hotmail.com to make reservations. Ask about their wedding carriages!

Parris Island Marine Recruits Graduate with Core Values

Joseph Coupal - Wednesday, March 02, 2011

We are forced to make major decisions in our lifetime. One of these decisions is a career choice. It takes some people longer than others to decide exactly what they want to do in life. Some people choose teaching or engineering. There are some people who choose to represent the country where they are citizens.

We attend high school graduations, college graduations, and trade school graduations. This month, the 2nd Gulf Company, the 3rd Battalion Lima Company, and the 4th Battalion Oscar Company graduate from Parris Island. What career did they choose? They are Marines.

(MCRD Parris Island) March 4th and March 11th, these recruits will obtain credentials that they have learned “the core values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment.” If you know someone completing basic training, comment on this blog giving your encouragement and congratulations.

The Best Burgers and Steaks in Beaufort

Steak

There is a place in every city that is known only to the locals for the best…If you want to know where the locals go to get the best burgers and steaks in Beaufort then keep this between you and me. Only ten minutes from Ashton Pointe Apartments by Waterfront Park is a hole in the wall that only locals would know about.

Luther’s on 910 Bay St. serves up the juiciest burgers and steaks. If you are a pork lover, try their bacon barbecue burger. They add just the right amount of barbecue sauce for the perfect tang. One of my favorite things about this restaurant is the view of the Beaufort River and of Water Front Park.

Living at Ashton Pointe Apartments you are only minutes away from several waterfront restaurants. That’s a short bike ride for some of you. If you enjoy living in an area that is well-known for its scenic beauty, call our apartment community today at 1-888-740-8930.

Bath-Water-With-Rose-Petals

Valentine’s Day started out as a celebration for couples, but now it is a way of showing your friends, family, and yourself how much you love and appreciate them. So for those of you who are single do not look at it as being a bad thing. Use this Valentine’s Day celebration to fall in love with yourself all over again, inside and out.

One of the best things about living at Ashton Pointe Apartments is that pampering yourself is easy. Spa retreats are nice, but when you have an Oval Soaking Tub in your master bathroom, you come home to a spa everyday. Run a warm bathwater and add your favorite scented oils and rose petals to the water. This will help you to relax and give you soft, silky, and smooth skin. Dim the lights and light scented candles to further set the mood.

Check out all of the other great amenities Ashton Pointe Apartments offer.

Welcome to Finger-Food Heaven

Joseph Coupal - Saturday, February 05, 2011

24 hours to kick-off! Are you ready? Not for the game, but for the party at your apartment. A Super Bowl party is fairly easy to prepare for since you already have the entertainment. The next major item on the list for a Super Bowl party is the food and beverages. Your living room is going to be full of empty stomachs and parched mouths that came to feast at your party. If you have these food items on the list everyone will be happy.

Nachos

A Super Bowl party is also finger-food heaven. You cannot have a Super Bowl without them. You should have finger-foods including cheese sticks, hot wings, southwestern eggrolls, chicken tenders, popcorn, chips and dip, nachos, and more. This sounds like the menu at Chili’s and everybody is a fan of Chili’s. It is also a good idea to have a couple of fruit and vegetable platters. Click here for more tips.
