If you live in an apartment in Beaufort, SC you can enjoy the Original Gullah Festival this weekend. Friday night is the official dance party, Saturday at 12:15 is the official welcoming ceremony to start off the festival and Sunday is the Gospel Hour of Power and the Port Royal Rededication Service.
The Original Gullah Festival of South Carolina is a celebration of the historical significant Sea Island heritage. The festival focuses on education and cultural preservation of the African American Gullah heritage in the low country. This festival is designed for everyone in mind.
The Gullah Festival takes place every Memorial Day weekend. The 2015 festival is May 21-24 at the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park in Beaufort. The gates for the festival will open Friday (10am to 11pm), Saturday (10am to 11pm) and Sunday (9am to 6pm).
There are many new activities and features planned for the 2015 Festival. There are discounted group tours and weekend ticket packages.
Also new for 2015, is the Friday Night Caribbean Concert. Tickets are $20 in advance and at the door. Enjoy an evening under the stars filled with music, dance and fun.
